If your gutters are more than 10 years old there is a 50/50 chance your system is using the old spike and ferrule way of security. If your house is more than 15 years old then its a 90% chance your gutters spike and ferrules are causing issues you can’t see. In this video, watch closely as you can see the water that comes from the upper gutter, flows to the lower and right over a ferrule. If you keep watching (its not a long video!) you will see the problem as the water tracks down the ferrule and seeps behind the gutter and down the fascia. What you can not see is the water is also getting into the hole and wood, slowly causing water damage for years before its detected.
